#PRACTICE: Easy Pose (Sukhasana)

THE SNAPSHOT

Level: Beginner

Focus: Spine alignment, Grounding, Hip opening.

The "Why": This is your "Main Stage" seated position. It is the foundation for breath work, meditation, and centering yourself beore the movement begins.

THE SETUP

Foundation: Sit with shins crossed comfortably. Ideally, aim for your knees to be level with or lower than your hips.

Action: Rock slightly forward on your sitting bones (the ischial tuberosities) to find a neutral pelvis - neither tucked under or overly arched.

Spine: Lengthen through the back of the neck. Imagine a string pulling the crown of your head to the ceiling to keep the back tall and proud.

Shoulders: Roll them up to your ears, then back and down to create space for the heart.

The Spotlight (Drishti): Lower your gaze to a point on the floor about four feet in front of you, or close the eyes to foucs on the breath.

THE DIRECTOR'S NOTE

Watch out for: The Frightened Cat. Many people sit with a rounded lower back, shoulders hunched forward. This collapses the chest and restricts your breath, making the 'script' of your practice much harder to follow.

The Fix: Elevate the stage! Sit on the edge of one of your blocks or on a folded blanket. This tilts the pelvis forward effortlessly, allowing the spine to rise like a column. It's an instant confidence boost for your posture.

ACCESS & SAFETY

For Knee Support: If your knees are hanging in mid-air and feel strained, slide your blocks under your outer thighs or knees for support. Giving the joints something to reset on allows the hips to actually release.

For Spinal Feedback: If you find yourself slouching practice with your back against a wall. Use the back of your head and your shoulder blades to find that vertical 'Director's' alignment.

For Hand Placement: If your arms feel 'short' or your shoulders feel tight, rest your hands on your knees with palms downwarrd for grounding, or palms up to invite energy.
